Statute law Database   Launched in December 2006 the Statute Law Database is the most comprehensive free source of revised UK legislation from 1267 onwards. It also covers all the devolved Parliaments and Assemblies.

This has a very comprehensive HELP section which explains how to use the database as well as explaining such difficulties as how NI legislation fits into the UK context.

Office of Public Sector Information, comprising:   See:  Factsheet on Northern Ireland Legislation from UK Parliament website for information on which of  the various Parliaments and Assemblies have had the power to legislate and how the issue of reserved legislation at Westminster is addressed.
BAILii (British and Irish Legal Information Institute)

The BAILII website provides comprehensive coverage of freely available Northern Ireland judgments on the internet.  Use it to access decisions from the following courts and tribunals:

Department of Social Development   Launch site for Child Maintenance and Enforcement Division and  Social Security Agency. Click on Law and Legislation for information on the Social Security and Child Support Commissioners as well as access to NIDOC (Northern Ireland Digest of Cases)
Northern Ireland Assembly   Restored as of May 2007, this site will provide information of debates, bills and legislation of the Assembly.
Northern Ireland Executive

Legal-Island   Links to legislation, cases, contacts for solicitors, barristers and other legal resources for both NI and the Republic of Ireland
nidirect   Collection of useful and relevant links or all aspects of Northern Ireland life. Click on Law and Justice for legal links.

Criminal Justice System of Northern Ireland, comprising:   Umbrella site linking the 7 major areas of criminal justice provision in Northern Ireland.

Each separate site has links to policy documents, full text publications, advice and further contact information.

Police Ombudsman   Aims to provide an independent, impartial police complaints system for the people and police under the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 and 2000.
Civil Law Reform Division   The Civil Law Reform Division of the Departmental Solicitor's Office is responsible for civil law reform in NI relating to private family law, trusts and property law, tort, contract law and private international law.

Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission   The Commission assumed responsibility for the administration of legal aid from the Law Society of Northern Ireland on the 1 November 2003. Contains full text documents, press releases etc. A new site, still under development.
Land Registers of Northern Ireland   The Agency's purpose is to record accurate details of legal interest in land in Northern Ireland and to provide a fast and accurate land information service to facilitate the process of conveyancing. Full-text download of documents and forms and guidance on fees etc.

Law Society of Northern Ireland   The Law Society acts as the regulatory authority governing the education, accounts, discipline and professional conduct of solicitors.  Access to leaflets, full text of 'The Writ' from January 2000- and guidance for students.
Bar Library   Information on the Bar, access to the Bar Directory and links to other useful legal sites.
Law Centre (NI)   Law Centre (NI) is a not for profit agency working to advance social welfare rights in Northern Ireland. The site contains some full-text access to advice sheets and guidance on Housing, Benefits, and Welfare issues
Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission  
The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission is a statutory body established by the Northern Ireland Act 1998. It Contains publications, some cases, legislation and policy documents covering their role in civil rights and equality in Northern Ireland.
Committee for the Administration of Justice   CAJ's activities include publishing reports, conducting research, holding conferences, monitoring, campaigning locally and internationally, individual casework and providing legal advice. Many of their publications are available  full text online.
Equality Commission for Northern Ireland   The Commission took over the functions previously exercised by the Commission for Racial Equality for Northern Ireland, the Equal Opportunities Commission for Northern Ireland, the Fair Employment Commission and the Northern Ireland Disability Council. Site has full text downloads, guidance and information on current campaigns.
CAIN - Conflict Archive on the Internet   Renowned University of Ulster based collection of resources on the Northern Ireland conflict. See: Key Issues for information on policing, law and order, the administration of justice as well as documents tracing events such as Bloody Sunday and the development of the most recent peace process.
