 Land and Property

Land and property law  is problematic in that the law in Northern Ireland  is not entirely the same as in England and Wales. Most Internet sites refer to the English law, so they should be used with caution.

Northern Ireland Land Law cases

An Open Law project in conjunction with BAILii has brought together a listing of land law cases which have and NI relevance. Some of the cases are available as full-text. The others can be located in LexisLibrary or Westlaw.


Nick Holmes has created a list of useful web links in the subject of land and property law.

Civil Law Reform Division

The Civil Law Reform Division of the Departmental Solicitor's Office is responsible for civil law reform in NI relating to private family law, trusts and property law, tort, contract law and private international law.

  Lands Tribunal

Main tribunal site for England and Wales. It contains information on jurisdictions, decisions, rules procedure and forms and a range of useful links.

Lands Tribunal for Northern Ireland

Rules of the Lands Tribunal, a table of cases, information on Restrictive Covenants and Business Tenancies (with the appropriate NI legislation)

  Residential Property Tribunal Service

Although geared towards England, the site contains some downloads and advice leaflets which might prove useful.

Law Commission

The Property, Family and Trusts law team have some information in easements, covenants and rights of way

  Delia Venables' Resources for Land and Property

A range of useful links although mostly for England and Wales

Land Law

Pages provided by Martin Dixon at the University of Cambridge, which give links to lots of relevant articles, pieces of legislation and cases. There is also lots of links to relevant Law Commission reports. Mostly related to England and Wales
