Library Laptop Lending Service   [19/04/18]

Full Story:

As part of Ulster University's commitment to innovation and the student learning experience, the Library Laptop Lending Service is now available at all campus libraries following the success of an initial pilot scheme. We have doubled the number of laptops available at Jordanstown and Coleraine from 12 to 24 and introduced 24 laptops available for loan at Magee and Belfast. All the laptops are a new model, with the latest Windows 10 student desktop environment. Full details of the service can be found on the Library laptop lending page.

Janet Peden, University Librarian, explains:

"The University's core business of academic excellence relies on the provision of first-class digital services. Technology pervades so many aspects of our lives and means that students join us with considerable technological expertise and an expectation that digital resources will feature strongly in their learning journey.
The expansion of the laptop lending scheme aligns closely with the University's digital first approach, and the provision of flexible and user-centric digital resources. It also supports our widening access and participation agenda – providing opportunities for all students to avail of high-spec equipment while on campus.
Working alongside our colleagues in the faculties and ADDL, the library is committed to enhancing our students' digital literacy and employability prospects by developing learners who can thrive in a digital society. The growth of this scheme will empower our student body by enhancing their learning experience and facilitating more active and collaborative approaches to learning."
